SMEinfo is a resource for aspiring entrepreneurs and investors in the Middle East.
The aim was feature the stories of successful businesses and people in the area as well as provide advice to help new investors establish their own success.
Since the site wanted to "inspire," the design relied heavily photos of business owners and entrepreneurs that found success in the area - SMEinfo wanted an emotional appeal.
The wealth of knowledge and resources required an additional layer of visual hierarchy.
Each section of the site was differentiated in its own colour scheme, allowing users to immediately see what type of content they were viewing.
SMEinfo wanted users to contribute to the site. They wanted to know what people found inspirational, facilitated commenting and discussion, and also encouraged sharing of Mentor profiles and resources.
A playful UI was implemented with sliders and one-click calls-to-action for easy participation.
One of the more challenging pieces of content was the data of the various investment zones called Freezones. SMEinfo wanted users to be able to compare the various freezones to find the best one for their needs. A design was implemented to quickly allow users to compare Freezones to each other based on selected criteria.
