The Association of University Architects (AUA) is a group of architects specializing in the planning and design of university and college campuses. Having come from an old CMS platform with outdated functionality, they were in need of a new site design that was modern and most of all, showcased their members' work.
The previous AUA site suffered from content organization issues. Similar content was on separate pages in different locations and unclear naming convetions made it hard to find what you were looking for. In addition, little to no images were used, making the site dull and uninteresting.
Restructuring the site contents into sensible categories was done and a spotlight was put on the works of the members via large images in page headers.
High fidelity wireframes were created to show AUA the new content structure as well as where visuals would be implemented. It was important to show them the planning stages as they were used to working with blueprints and layouts.
It was at this stage that changes and modifications were made with AUA defining what changes they wanted to see.
After the wireframes were finalized, they were handed to a fellow designer to apply style and images. This project was a great example of teamwork and coordination, with planning and information architecture done by myself, and styling and aesthetic design being done by a team member.
